How important is MOT history?

A car's MOT history chaker will indicate what kind of state the vehicle is in (or has been in) which in turn, will help you assess whether or not the purchase is worth the money.

Checking for MOT?

An MOT status involves dozens of checks on your car, ranging from the brakes and fuel system to lights, mirrors, seatbelts, windscreen wipers and exhaust system. It doesn't cover the condition of the engine, clutch and gearbox.

Major faults on MOT?

A 'major' fault is more serious, it poses a potential safety risk to drivers and others. It could also be a defect that has a damaging impact on the environment. These faults will result in an MOT failure and the owner will not be issued with an check MOT status pass certificate until the issues have been rectified.

Avoid MOT failure?

Taking the time to periodically perform these safety checks saves you time and money when your car's MOT is due. Check your lights. Inspect lights for loose or damaged parts, and ensure light colours are correct and matching..
